Privacy Policy

TruCareer respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and your rights, in accordance with applicable data protection law in Bangladesh.

Identity of the Data Fiduciary

TruCareer is the Data Fiduciary responsible for the collection, use, storage, disclosure, and other processing of your personal data. Where we use third-party service providers to process data on our behalf (for example, hosting, analytics, or AI tools), those providers act as processors on our instructions, and TruCareer remains responsible for their compliance with this Policy.

Categories of information we collect

• Account information: name, email address, profile information, login credentials

• Career-related information: job role, industry, department, experience level, salary information, company-related information, interview questions and experiences, career preferences

• Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, usage activity, cookies

We collect only what is reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and improve TruCareer.

Methods of data collection

• Directly from you, when you create an account or submit content

• Automatically, through your use of the Platform

• From publicly available sources, such as published government pay scales, where relevant to our salary and career content

Purpose of processing

• Create and manage user accounts

• Provide TruCareer's features and display salary/career insights

• Review and publish user Contributions

• Generate or improve AI-assisted content

• Improve search, recommendations, and platform quality

• Prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and security incidents

• Respond to support requests

• Understand platform usage in aggregate

Lawful basis for processing

• Your consent — freely given, specific, and revocable — for account creation, submissions, and optional features

• Contractual necessity — to provide the Platform features you request

• Legal obligation — where processing is required to comply with the law

• Legitimate, narrowly scoped purposes — such as fraud prevention and platform security

Where we rely on consent, we will tell you the specific purpose, how long we retain the data, whether it will be shared with third parties or transferred abroad, and how to withdraw consent, before or at the point of collection.

Consent and how to withdraw it

Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time by emailing trucareer.contact@gmail.com. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal, and may mean we can no longer provide certain features (for example, a published Contribution tied to your account may need to be anonymized or removed).

Anonymous contributions

If you submit salary or interview information anonymously, we design the Platform to avoid publicly displaying information that directly identifies you. We may combine or aggregate submissions to produce broader insights such as salary ranges or interview trends.

As explained in our Terms, anonymity is a design goal, not an absolute guarantee — we may be legally required to disclose account-level data in response to a valid court order or law enforcement request, and details you voluntarily include in a submission can make you identifiable regardless of what we publish.

Data sharing and disclosure

We do not sell personal data to advertisers. We may share data only:

• With service providers (processors) who help operate TruCareer under confidentiality and data protection obligations — they may only process data on our instructions, and we remain responsible for their compliance

• When required by law or valid legal process

• To protect the rights, safety, or security of TruCareer or its users

• As part of a business transfer, merger, or restructuring, with the same protections carried forward

Where possible, we share aggregated or de-identified data rather than data that directly identifies you.

Transfer of personal data

Some of our infrastructure or service providers (for example, cloud hosting or AI processing) may be located outside Bangladesh. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we take reasonable safeguards to protect it and, on request, will provide a summary of those safeguards. We do not transfer government-issued identifiers, biometric data, or other sensitive categories abroad except where legally permitted.

Cookies

TruCareer may use cookies or similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, understand usage, improve performance, and protect the Platform from abuse. You can manage cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work properly if cookies are disabled.

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures — including access controls and, where appropriate, encryption or pseudonymization — to protect your data. No online system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If a data breach is likely to cause significant harm to affected users, we will notify the relevant authority as required by law, and will notify affected users directly where feasible and where it would help them protect themselves.

Data retention

We retain personal data only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. We may retain anonymized or aggregated data indefinitely for research and platform improvement.

Your rights

• Access your personal data and how it's processed

• Rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data — we aim to act within 30 days of a valid request

• Erasure of your data (“right to be forgotten”) where it's no longer needed, you withdraw consent, or it was processed unlawfully

• Withdraw consent at any time, in whole or in part

• Data portability, where technically feasible

• Object to processing that could cause you harm

These rights cannot be waived by any contract or notice. To exercise them, email trucareer.contact@gmail.com; we may need to verify your identity first. You also have the right to raise concerns with the relevant data protection authority if you believe your rights are not being respected.

Third-party services

TruCareer may use third-party services for login, analytics, hosting, email, or AI-powered tools. These providers process data on our instructions as processors and according to their own privacy policies where applicable to their independent processing.

Updates to this notice

We may update this Privacy Policy as TruCareer develops or our practices change. The latest version will always be available on this page with an updated date.
